Healthy Snacking: Simple Plantain Chips and Guacamole

February 25 by Natalie

Homemade Plantain Chips and Guacamole: These are my new favorite snack for satisfying my salty/crunchy cravings in a healthy way- super easy to make too!

I've mentioned here before that the family and I are making an attempt to eat healthier this year. (A cliche, I know, but I've got three kids aged 6 and under, I'm too tired to be original. Especially with the baby currently teething and up all hours of the night.) What I've noticed lately is that the hardest part, my downfall really, is snack time. Our whole family can eat the same breakfast day-in-and-day-out pretty much without complaint (steel cut oats and strawberries for me, … [Read more...]

January 26 by Steph (MPMK Founder)

My kids loved this one - I loved that I can set it and forget it!

You guys know how much we love a convenient and family-friendly dinner (or 50 of them for that matter). So I'm super excited to present you all with this one from my friend Tiffany of Peanut Blossom. It's no exaggeration to say the delicious sweet and spicy mix of this recipe will take your Taco Tuesdays up a notch. Truly, these tacos are incredible all on their own (a new variety that the kids will still love) but the fact that they're made in a slow cooker - so you can set 'em and … [Read more...]

So many great resources - I refer back to this list whenever I'm in a dinner rut!

There's just over a week left in January, how's the resolution-keeping going?  Last year our 10 Tips for Better Meal Planning post was one of our most popular offerings both for the Project Organize Your ENTIRE Life series and on the blog in general. So this year I decided to ask our resident food blogger, Natalie, to revisit the topic and share some of her go-to resources. My hope is you'll find something (or even a few somethings) to help keep you on track towards your simplifying and … [Read more...]

December 17 by Natalie

Making one or more of these yummy mocktails for our family New Year's celebration this year!

I mentioned last week that this is the first year our family is going to attempt some sort of New Year's Eve celebration with the littles. Actually, a Happy Noon Year celebration may be what's really on the docket.  Regardless of when we do it, one thing is for sure- a tasty non-alcoholic drink (or "mocktail" if you will) is definitely making it onto the menu. Today Natalie is here sharing a few of her easiest tips for quickly whipping up your own signature mocktails... The kids might … [Read more...]

Trader Joe’s Copycat Recipe: Candy Cane Whoopie Pies

December 2 by Kristin

Inspired by Trader Joe's Candy Cane Joe-Joe cookies - this are always a HUGE hit every year.

Every year Trader Joe's gets their holiday products in stock.  They fly off the shelves and quickly as they arrived.  Peppermint is king around the holidays and we love everything from the candy cane tea to the candy cane 'joe-joes'  (Trader Joe's version of an oreo.) We decided to make our own version of the candy cane joe-joe in the form of a whoopie pie. Whoopie pies are basically cakey little cookies with frosting to hold them together.  Like a soft oreo!  Whoopie pies have been around … [Read more...]
