Giant Chocolate-Dipped Marshmallows

December 3 by Janssen

I had grand ambitions of baking a fancy madeira wine cake for each of my neighbors this year... guess how far I've gotten. I think, instead, I'm going to make a batch or two of these over-sized chocolate marshmallows with the kids and gift a few to each neighbor.  I love Janssen's idea of putting them on a stick and adding them to a decorative bag filled with hot cocoa mix in the bottom! Psst one quick thing... Christmas is coming SOON, be sure to check out our SUPER POPULAR toy gift guide … [Read more...]

Gotta Try Dessert: Pumpkin Dump Cake

November 19 by Kristin

This pumpkin dump cake is the perfect semi-homemade holiday recipe and SOOO good!

If you've never heard, can I introduce you to the concept of 'dump cake?'  While the name is quite unflattering, the concept is genius!  The cake consists of several pantry ingredients and some eggs...involves a few stirs and about an hour in the oven.  And all the busy moms rejoiced!  Any time I have to make a dessert on the fly, it's a dump cake. This particular cake is of the pumpkin variety.  And hold the term cake loosely, because this tastes like a pumpkin pie … [Read more...]

Healthy Snack: Chia Seed Granola Bark

November 14 by Kristin

I love recipes you can't mess up. Add a little bit extra, you're still good. Short on something, it's okay. This granola bark has all the good stuff, little bits of chocolate to entice the sweet tooth and is fool-proof. The granola bark has a similar texture to Nature Valley crispy granola bars. It's a little chewier, which I like, because who wants to break a tooth? You break the granola into pieces after its baked. Smaller pieces are great for topping yogurt. Bigger pieces … [Read more...]

Get More Veggies: Cauliflower Pizza Bites

November 5 by Kristin

Sneaking in vegetables has been a hobby of mine since my kids were toddlers. Jessica Seinfeld came out with Deceptively Delicious and I was hooked. Cauliflower was showing up everywhere! Fast forward to my kids' teenage years and I'm still trying to infuse extra vitamins into their diet. These Cauliflower Pizza Bites are a recipe that works from toddlerhood all the way to the teenage years. I can whip up this recipe in about 15 minutes and have a delicious meal that's nutrient … [Read more...]

Meet the Roll Up: Your Kids’ New Favorite

October 1 by Kristin

Quick and healthy Roll-up Lunches done 4 ways - these are my kids new favorite. It's amazing how presenting food in a new way makes it interesting again!

Packing lunches Monday through Friday can be a little monotonous.  Sandwiches are our go-to, so when we run out of combinations of ingredients to go on the bread, it's time to switch things up! Meet the roll-up!  You can make a roll-up out of just about anything. Today we're going to show you how to make two roll-ups with a tortilla and two roll-ups with lunch meat (a great gluten-free option). And hey, the roll-ups are a perfect idea for those times you forgot to buy bread at the store.  Not … [Read more...]

Halloween Recipe: String Cheese Bones and Blood

September 17 by Kristin

Healthy Halloween Recipe: Cheesy Bones and Blood - my kids love this!

I love seeing all the food that people put out for Halloween get-togethers. At no other time is it appropriate to make food look disgusting.  But, for Halloween, the grossest thing you can come up with is the biggest hit with the kids. This year, I put together an easy cheese-stick recipe that will work as a spooky after-school snack or as something you take to a Halloween party. Cheesy Bones and Blood Ingredients pre-made dough (Trader Joe's sells a bag of pizza dough) string cheese … [Read more...]

7 Next Level Oktoberfest Recipes

September 13 by Steph (MPMK Founder)

Do you live in a neighborhood where families get together and hang out? Until a few years ago, I didn't. But then my husband and I moved our burgeoning family into a new house and somehow stumbled into a young family mecca. It didn't happen right away, when we first moved in there were only two or three families with young kids scattered around the neighborhood. Fast forward a few years, though, and suddenly there were about twenty. We have so many kids at our elementary bus stop now that … [Read more...]

Healthy homemade cereal bars with a gluten free option too!

Cereal bars and granola bars are such an easy grab-and-go snack, but most store brands come with a whole host of ingredients that you didn't bargain for. It seems like it should just be made of some grains and fruit, right?
