I've got some exciting news to share today. A few month's ago the folks over at FamilyFun Magazine asked me to design the "Go Green" edition of their Family Fun Badges, to be featured online and in print. "What's a Family Fun Badge?" you say. They're kind of like boy scout badges for families. I really love how the whole concept promotes family time and creativity and was thrilled to have the opportunity to get involved. Also, I got a pretty great theme to … [Read more...]
One Last St. Patrick’s Day Project
St. Paddy's Day is just over a week away so here's one more fun project to try with the littles. It's a really fun one too - green bracelets made, of all things, popsicle sticks. The kids will love it - see my full tutorial here. I also do a weekly roundup of family finds for momtastic and this week good stuff abounds (if I do say so myself). Along with the fabulous frame wallpaper project above, I'm featuring posts on making time with the kids, raising creative kids, an incredible … [Read more...]
Interactive Leprechaun Trap
Around this time last year I stumbled on the idea of making a Leprechaun Trap for St. Paddy's Day and mentally filed it away. So when I started thinking of activities for the upcoming holiday, it was the first thing that popped into my head (which is somewhat of a miracle considering how long it was stowed away in there). As with many of my projects, I wanted to add an interactive element and this DIY chalk version is what I came up with. I like it because it allows me and the kids … [Read more...]
St. Paddy’s Day Printables: Limerick Scavenger Hunt & Temporary Tattoos
Unbelievably, tomorrow's the first day of March. Despite my whining about the snow, it kind of caught me by surprise. In fact, the only reason I noticed was because a few of my St. Paddy's Day projects from last year have started to re-surface on Pinterest. That's yet another great thing about Pinterest, it's a spot-on barometer of what the masses want. And if Leprechauns and rainbows are it - who am I to argue? I'll have a few fresh projects this year as well, but today I wanted to … [Read more...]

Valentines for Her
I wasn't quite sure what to title this post (What to Want for Valentine's Day?). It seems a little odd to put up a collection of gift ideas for her... Groundhog Day and Shadow Play
Pre-kids, quirky little holidays like Groundhog Day didn't really do much for me. Post-kids they provide the perfect opportunity to easily add a little magic to a typical day. To see what I mean, check out my latest kid craft over at momtastic: groundhog shadow puppets. It's a simple little project you can do next Thursday with the kiddos (there's a secret weapon that will help you impress them even if you couldn't draw a straight line to save your life.) And to extend the fun, … [Read more...]
Non-Cheesy V-Day Gifts for Him
image via Nancy Nikko Design This February 14th will be the 12th Valentine's Day my husband and I spend together (that's right, we're already up to a dozen!). Maybe it's just me, but I'm finding it tougher and tougher to come up with novel, non-cheesy gifts that he'll actually like. No, it's not just me, I'm sure of it - shopping for love tokens for the menfolk is just plain hard! Just in case you're struggling with the same dilemma, I've curated a short list of guy gifts … [Read more...]
