September 17 by Steph (MPMK Founder)

The secrets to getting my 4 and 5 year olds to get up and get themselves dressed, fed and ready to go to school each morning.

Image: © Suzette - www.suzette.nu | edited and text added | Jippe Eating Scones | CC by 2.0 In honor of the fact that we're giving away a cordless Dyson MC59 Motorhead vacuum cleaner worth $549, I thought I'd share two more ways for you and the family to get more organized this week. First, up check out my post over on eHow Mom's Channel on how I get my 4 and 5 year old to dress, feed, and otherwise prepare themselves for school in the morning (it had to be done - otherwise this "mom of 3 … [Read more...]

August 13 by Steph (MPMK Founder)

Really doable ideas on how to make dinner and a movie at home more fun - nothing ridiculous my hubby will roll his eyes at!

If you're like our family, having young children in your brood can mean a lot of "Date Nights In". While ordering our favorite takeout and zoning out on the couch to Netflix can be relaxing at the end of a long week, it's not exactly the best way I know to keep the romance alive. So I've done a little research and put together a list of 10 ways to liven up dinner and movie at home with minimal effort. And I promise, it's stuff you'll actually want to do. I really can't take all those … [Read more...]

{Parenting} Teaching Kids to Wash Hands & Kill Germs

August 7 by Steph (MPMK Founder)

A simple game to teach your kids to wash their hands (finally!)

As a parent of three small children, germs are kind of the bain of my existence. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for my kids building up their immunity while playing in the dirt and socializing with friends. What I'm not cool with, however, are my kiddos neglecting to wash their hands after using the toilet and then putting said hands on EVERYTHING. Apparently Clorox understands my pain. Check out this funny little video on just how sticky germs really are (but beware, it's a bit … [Read more...]

My Summer Mantra

June 22 by Steph (MPMK Founder)

"I will listen more, speak less, and remember I want my kids to feel heard so that they will continue to talk. I will remember I only have 13 summers left with all 3 of them. I will remember it doesn't have to be perfect... If we're late, or it rains, or someone gets sunburned and we only make it to see two of the animal exhibits in the entire zoo, it's OK because what my littles will remember most is not where we went or even what we did, but how I made them feel...." - the list goes on, love it all

Before critiquing, correcting, or criticizing I will ask myself, "Is this really an issue or is it just annoying me?" (Endless potty jokes - I'm looking at you.)   I will remember when they're cackling like deranged maniacs instead of eating their lunch (despite being asked to sit still and chew no less than 37 times) that one of my biggest dreams in life was a house full of giggling, joyful, healthy kids.   When they ask to do something that is messy, time-consuming, … [Read more...]

April 23 by Steph (MPMK Founder)

Great ideas on where to look to find positive role models for our daughters instead of negative role models like Miley Cyrus and Lindsay Lohan.

Happy "Take Your Daughters and Sons to Work" Day! I don't know about you guys, but I have vivid memories of participating in this as a kid - back when it was just "Take Your Daughter to Work" Day. It always got the wheels in my brain turning - asking myself who did I look up to, who and what did I eventually want to be? So I thought today would be the perfect day to share with you an article I wrote for eHow on finding positive female role models for our girls.  I'd love it if you'd check it … [Read more...]

How to help kids adjust to the time change and avoid crankiness and melt-downs from being over-tired.
