Homemade Valentine Treat: Chocolate Pomegranate Bonbons

February 1 by Kristin

Chocolate pomegranate bon bon recipe- only two ingredients and even a clean eating recipe. I love this!

In the spirit of ‘sticking to our New Years commitments,’ I whipped up a better for you treat for Valentine’s Day.  If you’re eating clean, this is a treat you can indulge in but the kids will love it too.

It’s also super easy to make (hello two ingredients!) and it makes a pretty gift.

There are several different ways of combining the two ingredients (semi-sweet chocolate and pomegranate seeds).  I decided to make it into a bonbon shape by using a mini muffin tin.

They are so tiny and cute that it’s the perfect after-dinner treat.  And like I mentioned, you could package a few up in a cello bag to gift a friend or share at a get-together.

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 5 ounces pomegranate seeds

Start by microwaving the chocolate chips in shallow glass bowl for 30 seconds.  Stir the chocolate chips.  Repeat the 30 seconds of microwaving and stirring until your chocolate is melted.

Grease your mini-muffin tin and put a teaspoon of melted chocolate at the bottom of each muffin tin.

Add a teaspoon of pomegranate seeds.

I decided to purchase the pomegranate as seeds instead of buying a whole one.  Trader Joe’s sells these and it makes putting this treat together even easier.

Add another teaspoon of melted chocolate.

Freeze for 15 minutes or until set.  You can let them defrost for about 5 minutes or dip the bottom of the tray in warm water to release the chocolate.

Enjoy!
