15 Summer Hairstyles that Take 5 Minutes or Less

May 9 by Kristin

15 summer hair styles that take 5 minutes or less!

As the school year comes to close, I’m looking at my personal time shrinking like crazy.  Don’t get me wrong, I love spending the days with my kids at the beach or the pool.  I also love not having to pack lunches.

But, let’s admit it, having my kids home from school means that I may not get a shower before we start the day.  It also means that my hair will look less than stellar.

This summer, I’m looking for hair styles that take 5 minutes or less.

I’m also looking for styles that one-up the basic pony tail.  I want to look cute!  So, I put together…

My favorite 15 summer hair styles that take 5 minutes or less

First off we have The Gibson Tuck by Sara Lynn Paige.  It’s such a classy look and works for short or long hair.

The top knot has definitely had it’s moment for the last few years.  And it’s easy to see why.  They look effortless and cool.  The Top knot by A Beautiful Mess is a perfect example.

If you have very long hair or are looking for more of a polished look, try the full bun for long hair by Forever Amber.   It’s a little different than the traditional top knot.  I love the Audrey Hepburn inspiration.

Some of us may be growing out bangs.  The French braid at the crown is a perfect solution for looking chic even in the in-between stages of hair growth.

Imperfect Women shows us how Alessandra Ambrosio does a a thick one sided, fishtail braid.  If you have longer hair, this style is mermaid-esque and keeps your hair out of your face.

I love simple styles the best.  Reese Witherspoon pins up the top part of her hair with a little volume (seen on Total Beauty).  If you have naturally wavy hair, this is a great style.  It also looks good with short hair, and like I mentioned, it can’t be any more simple.

Byrdie shows us how to braid a piece from each side and tie them in the back.   If you’re on day 3 of not washing your hair, this is the style for you.  It tames all the messy waves.

French braid across the top and into a bun on Self is the perfect ‘do for the beach.  It keeps your hair off your neck, but that french braid on the top adds that extra something to the style.

Girls with long hair can try the side braid into a messy pony on Popular Haircuts.  If you don’t like the way you look with all your hair pulled back, this is a good one to try because the textured braid adds some volume on the side.

15 super simpe summer hair styles

The Blair Waldorf pony tail on Babble  has Gossip girl inspiration.  I love how it shows off the different hair tones.  This is great for blondes.

Add a few ‘baby braids’ to the top like Popular Haircuts.  This is super bohemian and is a great summer look.

Another super simple style is the voluminous low pony, also see on Byrdie.

If you’re looking for yet another variation to the top-knot, try the Dutch Braided Top Knot on Twist Me Pretty.  Gotta love the styles that look great coming and going.

Make your own beach spray on Gurl.  Sometimes, you just want to embrace the day-old waves.  Add texture with a homemade beach spray.  Spray, scrunch, done.

The Double Braid on Gurl involves a little french braiding, some bobby pins and a low messy bun.  Even though the style looks complicated, it’s actually not at all.

Hope you have fun switching up your summer hair routine.  If you’ve got a favorite easy hair style that I didn’t cover, let me know in the comments.
