Embroidery Projects and Decor for Kids and Kid Spaces

I’ve been stumbling upon lots of kid-friendly embroidery projects lately.  And since this Friday afternoon is my big post over at sewing-blog-extraordinaire MADE, I thought now would be the perfect time to share them.  All of these projects would look great in a kids’ space – I’m especially digging the reverse embroidered name art above.

What’s even better, most entail kids participation in one form or another.  Take, for example, the embroidered hand print above from plumpudding.  This project can be modified to suit your child’s age and interest level.  Very young kids can participate simply by having their hands traced while older kids can trace their own hands and possibly even do some embroidery.   Click through for more great ideas… the next is my favorite!

Less you think embroidery hoops are too frilly, check out the following two projects.  These embroidered constellations from MinatureRhino are perfect for the young star gazer or little science enthusiast in your life.  Along with completed pieces like those above, this Etsy shop also offers DIY constellation kits.  Wouldn’t this be a great project for an older child on a rainy day?

And to really amp up the boy factor, why not go high tech?  The kiddos are sure to think these LED embroidery hoops from Craft: are something special and the site has a very helpful video to walk you through the process.

Finally, Seth Rogan probably isn’t the most appropriate choice for a kids’ space but this quick and dirty tutorial over at Lilac Saloon walks you through the steps for transforming any picture into embroidered wall art.  Can’t you just see this done with a beloved kids’ character – Thomas, Mickey, or Big Bird?
