It’s officially June- have you booked your kids’ camps yet?
Before you put the final touches on that summer calendar, I want to tell you about an amazing STEM camp that I am SUPER excited to once again partner with, Camp Invention®.

This camp is a standout from other STEM summer programs because it’s the only one affiliated with the National Inventors Hall of Fame® (NIHF) in partnership with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
That means Camp Invention® goes beyond just teaching science, technology, engineering and math. It also provides a unique experience for children to learn about the importance of intellectual property from actual NIHF inductees, aka some of our nation’s top inventors.
Kids at Camp Invention® truly do learn more about how to innovate in the real world than campers anywhere else.
This year’s Supercharged™ curriculum also features several video challenges from the NIHF Inductees encouraging children to be confident in their ideas and explore their innovativeness.
My daughter attended Camp Invention® as a second grader last summer and she absolutely LOVED IT.
So much so, that I am once again committing to the nearly hour drive both there and back again this summer (we’re a little rural where we live… there are lots of locations around the country so you should be able to find a spot closer than that to you).
As a mom of 3 kids, that is not something I do lightly. We have so many sports during the school year that I generally try to keep our summers to as little driving as possible.
This is literally the ONLY camp I would make that commitment for, here’s why…
Last year’s curriculum did such an amazing job of integrating things my daughter already loves into the STEM education… I mean, “becoming a robotic pet vet”.
And building her own smart-home mini mansion? Yeah, she was in FOR SURE.
This year’s brand new Supercharged curriculum looks to be just as great as last year…
Introducing the all new 2019 program: SUPERCHARGED!
In the new 2019 program, campers will learn ocean navigation and survival skills on a remote island, conduct mock DNA tests on farm animals, and learn to protect their own ideas and patents.
And at the end of the program, each camper will bring home a personalized robot!
These hands-on modules include:
- Innovation Force®: Campers team up with the Innovation Force (NIHF Inductees depicted as action-packed superheroes) to battle the evil Plagiarizer, a supervillain who is out to steal the world’s greatest ideas. As children create a device to retrieve the stolen ideas, they learn about the importance of intellectual property and the U.S. patent system.
- Deep Sea Mystery™: The children embark on a research adventure at sea to dig up fossils. Using lessons and advice from NIHF Inductees, they invent island-survival tools and underwater equipment.
- Farm Tech™: Campers are put in charge of managing their own farm as they learn the basics of running a business. With the assistance of the Bot-ANN-E robot, they learn fundamental coding techniques to maximize their time and profits. Children also are introduced to DNA syntheses, where they perform their own mock experiment to check the health of their newly purchased livestock.
- DIY Orbot™: The children will explore frequency, circuit boards, motors and gears as they use real tools to reverse engineer a remote-control robot. Throughout the week, campers will adapt their DIY Orbot to perform increasingly challenging tasks.
As a parent, I’ve seen a huge push over the last few years for getting kids early STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education. While I do think these skills have become extremely important in today’s changing world, one more thing to add to sports, music lessons, etc. can seem overwhelming!
That’s what’s so great about Camp Invention®. As parents of grade-school students, it allows you to use the summer to help your kids explore their creativity and see where their minds can take them.
It truly is an amazing program that I’ve been incredibly impressed with!
Registration is closing fast, though, and (it being June and all) some of the locations are already waitlisting… so it’s best if you sign up your child ASAP.
Grab your spot here before it’s too late!
And don’t forget! MPMK readers can use promo code FINAL10 to save $10 on your Camp Invention® registration.
