The Finds to Take Your Patio to the Next Level

So that’s the update, here’s the original post that I sent out with the deals and why we made the choices we did :).

Memorial Day is this weekend! In my world, that always marks the unofficial beginning of summer and it’s the time of year when my wheels start turning about how we want to spend it.

A big part of that this year (and most years) is hanging out on the deck grilling and just enjoying the sunshine.

I’ve already let my newsletter subscribers in on a few purchases we just made to turn our deck into the ultimate summer gathering spot. It’s still a work in progress and I promise to post pics of the completed project, but today I want to share with you rest of you where we’re at so far.

And because I know that this is the summer a lot of us want to spruce up at home, here’s the best finds of THIS SUMMER

Better Homes & Gardens River Oaks 5pc Set w/ Covers

Walmart: $797

First up, is the 4 piece set very close to the set we decided on after copious amounts of research- both online and in person.

Yes, I spent a good couple of days driving around to Pier1, Walmart, World Market, Lowe’s, Home Depot, Fred Myer, and Target to give all their pieces a good sit test.

In the end, Better Homes and Garden sets just couldn’t be beat! And we nabbed ours up fast because research revealed that last year’s sets sold out by June.

Here’s why we love it:

It looks and feels like it cost a lot more than it did. In person, this set presents just as high end as similar pieces from stores like Crate and Barrel for less than 1/3 of the cost!

It includes a couch and two chairs for under $1000 (way under!) This is literally the only set I found that included a couch, and not a loveseat, that was even close to this price range.

The cushions are a lovely neutral with out being too light. The problem I have with a lot of sets is that, though visually stunning, the cushions are basically white… In my house of 3 kids (and a bazillion neighbor kids) they would not remain that way for no more than 2 days, tops. That being said, I didn’t want boring (and kinda ugly) tan either…. The cushions on this set are actually a very pretty neutral that will go with almost anything and be a lot more durable than white.

We also purchased the Davenport wicker rocker for a 6th seat to go with our set. (Now out of stock.)

In a perfect world, I would also have space and budget for a chair like this somewhere. Could there be a better spot to curl up and do some summer reading with the kiddos?!

Update: My plan for this summer is to grab the Better Home and Gardens version- it’s too good of a deal to pass up!

Swingasan Parchament Hanging Chairs

Pier1: $299, now $179

And if a swinging chair is your thing, Pier1 is the place to go. They’re basically the Mecca of the hanging chair trend, and options abound.

You can hang the chair from the ceiling or (now 40% off) and put it wherever you like.

Foxborough 4pc Patio Conversation Set

Target: $1230

This is another conversation set from Target that I saw in person. The color runs more grey but is another beautiful neutral.

Outdoor Rugs at Target

Memorial Day weekend is also always an excellent time to nab an outdoor rug (even a really big one) at a great price!

My favorites at Target this year are from the Opal House and Threshold line.

Mosaic Accent Tables

When setting up your new conversation area out back, don’t forget that people need a place to put their drinks! We bought 3 end tables to go with our new set but now I’m kicking myself a bit for not waiting.

The price of side tables always irks me a bit (why so high!), so I was thrilled when I found this deal for 58% off at Pier1!

Side Note: Ottomans and poofs are also a really nice touch for allowing everyone to truly relax with their feet up.
