Favorite Find: CleanMyMac X

Like many of us, it doesn’t feel like an exaggeration when I say my Macbook is my life.

I use it to organize my family, to do my work, and for my kids to do their homework. So when my Mac starts giving me signs that it could be at the end of it’s life, it’s also not an exaggeration to say I panic.

Enter CleanMyMac X (insert singing angel chorus here). This is a legit Mac cleaning app that does exactly what it says. Which is a relief because, without a solid recommendation, you can run into some sketchy stuff you probably don’t want on your computer.

You guys, I couldn’t believe how simple it was.

Here were the super complicated steps:

1. Download CleanMyMac X  (Hint: that link will automatically download the trial version)
2. Click the big “Scan” button at the bottom of the screen

That’s it!

In a matter of seconds, you’ll get a super clear picture of how you can:

• Clean up your Mac
• Up your security
• Increase the speed of your Mac

Again, this is all done with just one tool.

If all looks good, just click the “Run” button and away you go.

This was truly all it took to fix my 3 year old Macbook! No more crawling applications and no more wheel of death.

I cannot tell you what a relief that was. I was able to get back to my work and all it cost me was $35 for the entire year. Needless to say, I’ve been using the program ever since.

One of the best parts is that it the program reminds me when it’s time to scan my Macbook again to keep everything running quickly and smoothly. Whenever the reminder pops up, I hit that scan button again and my computer is once again running like a well-oiled machine in a matter of minutes.

One clarifying note; Last year I bought and downloaded CleanMyMac 3 but recently the company came out with a brand new version, CleanMyMac X.

This new version does an even better job of deep diving exactly what’s slowing down your Mac and leading you through the steps to fix it. You can see the first way it does this in the drop down menu shown above.

Clicking that analyze button, you can get a very cool visual picture of which users, files and apps are using the most space on your computer.

Another feature I’m loving in CleanMyMac X is the Uninstaller. As you might have guessed, this one will search your computer for applications taking up the most space so you can uninstall any you aren’t using. For me, that meant removing GarageBand from my MacBook.
