So what is Bing in the Classroom? It’s a new idea that I personally think is kind of revolutionary. In a nutshell, Bing is now offering schools the chance to sign up for the first ever search tool specifically designed for students. That means that when students go to access the internet their searches and results will be:
- 100% advertising free
- strictly filtered for adult content
- subject to enhanced privacy protections

Isn’t it amazing that no one else has thought of doing this? I have to say, any company willing to shelve their ads and put the bottom line aside in favor of educating our kids in a safe and responsible way gets a big thumbs up from me.
My 5 year old son, C, is starting kindergarten next fall and I was elated when I found out his elementary school will have a STEM program (you know how much I love all things STEM). But I was also a little worried about him traveling down the internet rabbit hole at such a young age.
Which is why the first thing I did when I saw this campaign was to say yes to #adfreesearch in schools myself. The very next thing I did was forward the page to our elementary school’s administrators. It was super easy – I just clicked on “find your school” in the bottom right hand corner of the homepage, found my school, and filled out the request that they enroll in ad-free searching.
I highly encourage you to do the same! (Go ahead and do it now, I’ll wait.)
