We've got a new contributor joining our MPMK team (yay!).  Wendy of the bento-fabulous blog Wendolonia is going to start stopping by periodically to share some seasonal and healthy lunch ideas for the kids - because who can't  use more of those? I'm curious, do any of you bento it when it comes to packing lunches?  I admit, the time involved in achieving a pretty presentation is a bit overwhelming to me but I do appreciate the variety of healthy foods and food groups that are the foundation of … [Read more...]

How to Set Up Stations for Kids to Pack Their Own Lunches - So doing trying this out this year!!!

I'm all about making life easier when possible. As moms we are juggling a million things and making lunches for school is one of those things that seems like it should be an easy task, but ends up being one of the tasks that I avoid until the last minute.  So here's what I've discovered. Just like anything else, preparation is key.  You may have seen our serve-yourself snack station over the summer.  I decided to apply the concept to lunch. If I let the kids have make their own lunches … [Read more...]

You may have noticed, in fact, that I'm already in preparation overdrive.  Well, I'm not done yet! Today our contributor Kristin, a former first grade teacher, is here sharing her all-time favorite back-to-school hacks. You … [Read more...]

There are so many of these I want to try this year - #12 for sure!!

(pictured: Pretzel and Cheese Broomsticks, Pumpkin Pie Pop Tarts, Candy Corn Pudding Pops, Haunted Hooting Owl Pretzels, Pretzel Mummy Treats, Ghost Milk Bottles, Oreo Bat Truffles) Halloween chatter has already started around my house, with my daughters throwing new costume ideas around every few minutes. Our neighborhood gets really into Halloween, with costumed kids everywhere and even most adults dressed in something festive. My Summer Mantra

June 22 by Steph (MPMK Founder)

"I will listen more, speak less, and remember I want my kids to feel heard so that they will continue to talk. I will remember I only have 13 summers left with all 3 of them. I will remember it doesn't have to be perfect... If we're late, or it rains, or someone gets sunburned and we only make it to see two of the animal exhibits in the entire zoo, it's OK because what my littles will remember most is not where we went or even what we did, but how I made them feel...." - the list goes on, love it all

Before critiquing, correcting, or criticizing I will ask myself, "Is this really an issue or is it just annoying me?" (Endless potty jokes - I'm looking at you.)   I will remember when they're cackling like deranged maniacs instead of eating their lunch (despite being asked to sit still and chew no less than 37 times) that one of my biggest dreams in life was a house full of giggling, joyful, healthy kids.   When they ask to do something that is messy, time-consuming, … [Read more...]

I don't know about you, but around here December is a magical month filled with little surprises around every corner - whether it's a new Christmas book from the library or an impromptu car ride to seek our some twinkly lights. No doubt this easy-to-prepare lunch put together by our contributor Wendy will soon become one … [Read more...]
