I’ve already told you guys my little S turns 1 this month. Of course we couldn’t let that momentous event pass without a proper party. I’ll be sharing lots of details with you in the next few weeks, starting with today’s DIY paint chip birthday banner.
You may remember when I debuted my paint chip Easter garland, I mentioned that I had a few more paint chip projects up my sleeve. That little post ended up going viral (thank you all so much for over 1,000 facebook likes!). As lovely as that was, it made me a little gun shy to post on any other paint chip projects – I didn’t think anything could match the wild popularity of the original garland.
If anything is worth breaking out the paint chips again, though, it’s a birthday – especially a first birthday! They’re actually kind of genius party decor because you can coordinate them with any color scheme. Read on for the simple DIY and a few more pretty pictures.
Start out by going through your stash of extra paint chips (or by going on a super stealth mission to the hardware store). Then trace the letters (you can get my template here), punch small holes at the top, and string them on some waxed cotton.
My favorite part was adding pictures from the past year. I tried to find photos that really showed how much S has grown and changed. Then I just printed them on card stock in black and white and glued them onto more paint chips.
All that’s left to do is to hang it up at the party. For more detailed instructions and tips, see the original DIY here. Enjoy!
